𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲:
Akhenaten or Amenhotep the Fourth is a pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty, “Amun is satisfied.” His father, Amenhotep III (1417-1379 BC), and his mother, Tiye, who came from a popular environment, unlike what is known about the wives of the pharaohs, who were descended from distinct strains. His wet-nurse is Ti, her husband is the charioteer Aye, and his aunt, the Queen Mother’s sister, is Moutnejmet.
Ruled with his wife Nefertiti for 17 years since 1369 BC. The word Akhenaten means beautiful with the sun disk. He tried to unite the gods of ancient Egypt, including the god Amon Ra, in the form of the one god, Aton. He moved the capital from Thebes to his new capital, Akhet Aten, in Minya. In it, realistic art appeared, especially in sculpture and painting, and a new literature appeared, characterized by the chants of the new god Aton. Or what is also known as the Amarna system. King Akhenaten was preoccupied with his religious reforms and turned away from foreign policy and the administration of the empire, which extended to the upper Euphrates and Nubia in the south. The Asian part separated from it. When he died, his brother Tutankhamun succeeded him, who apostatized from the Aten doctrine and left the capital for Thebes and announced the return of the Amun doctrine, declaring that he was Tutankhamun. And the good priests demolished the effects of Akhenaten and his city, and erased his name from it.
And the beginning of his rule mixed with the end of his father’s rule, during which Egypt reached the peak of its glory in its ancient history, and its influence extended from the Euphrates island, Anatolia, Crete and the Aegean basin to Nubia.
The young king received his royal name, which he bore after his coronation, Neferkhorupure, but six years after his ascension to the throne he called himself Akhenaten, which is the name by which he became famous.
