The ancient Egyptian god Khepri is the sun god in the form of a scarab, an apparition of the morning sun or the “rising sun”, meaning “the sun that gave birth to existence”. Khepri is usually represented as a scarab, or man with the head of a scarab, holding up the morning sun. He is also the god of rebirth and radiance.
The Egyptians imagined the disk of the sun as a small ball of dung that the sacred scarab rolls on the sand in the morning, and thus pushes the morning sun in front of it when it rises from the other world. Always affecting the form of transformations that occur to a person from life to death and then to resurrection.
